Frequently asked questions

Backups don’t run when the app is closed?

Scheduled jobs are executed by the JTDBVaultService Windows service. Check the status indicator at the bottom-left of the app — it should say “running”. The installer sets it to start automatically.

SQL Server says “access denied” writing the backup?

SQL Server writes the backup file with its own service account. If you configured a custom temporary folder, grant write permission to the SQL Server service account (default C:\ProgramData\JTDBVault\staging is preconfigured).

Backing up to a network share from the service fails?

Set the service log-on account in services.msc to a user that has access to the share.

How do I restore to a different database name?

In a restore job, click the gear next to the database row and choose “Restore database to …”.

Which ports do I need for Hetzner Storage Box?

Use SFTP with port 22 (recommended). For port 23 (extended SSH service) use SSH key authentication.
